Professor Bernd Giebel is a globally recognized authority in the field of extracellular vesicle (EV) biology. As Professor in translational EV research at the University of Duisburg-Essen, he has pioneered foundational research on the biology, characterization, and therapeutic potential of EVs. His groundbreaking work has significantly advanced the understanding of EV-mediated intercellular communication and their application in diagnostics and regenerative medicine.
Prof. Giebel is an influential contributor to the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV), where he has played a key role in shaping global EV research standards and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration. He authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications about EVs, including single-EV characterisation tools and breakthrough MSC-EVs manufacturing innovations.
Prof Giebel earned his PhD in Neurogenesis from the University of Cologne where he focused on molecular and cellular biology.
